Despite the historically cold weather, we still had a wonderful time celebrating Halloween. The students participated in a whole school parade and classroom parties where they were able to play games, make crafts, and eat "spooky" snacks. It was apparent that all the students enjoyed the time and devotion put in by the teachers and PTA room reps. Thanks to all who made this Halloween a success!
The fourth graders have been working hard for weeks on their "Summer Camp" musical and it was a wild success! The students and parents enjoyed watching the show and seeing all of our stars sing, dance, and act. Way to go fourth graders!
Who doesn't love popcorn, fruit snacks, and a great movie with friends?! Students in grades third through fifth enjoyed watching the movie Dolphin Tale while spending time with their friends. It was an Ivy Hill slumber party!
Today Ivy Hill students participated in International Walk To School Day. It was a beautiful fall day for a walk as staff and students made their way to school from our various meeting points. We want to thank all of the students and families who joined us on this special day. We are already looking forward to our walk on Earth Day in the spring.
This afternoon I spent time in the 5th grade classrooms as they worked on culminating projects about the human body systems. It was wonderful to see the students applying the knowledge they learned in this unit to real world problems and situations. From how Michael Phelps uses the various systems during a race, to how the systems are impacted when riddled with disease, these projects allowed for students to get passionate about science! I can't wait to see what exciting things are in store for the next unit.
